Here are a few pics from the opening last Thursday. There was a good crowd. We almost filled the 1600 square foot space on the main Floor of the Nyack fitness Center. People floated in and out most of the evening. Jeff Castaldo, owner of Nyack Fitness, sponsored Standpoint and cleared the first floor for the event. The surprise for the evening happened at 7 and 7:30 when there were two dance exhibitions. The first was good friend/artist/ and great Tango Dancer, Viktor Gagliardi, and his partner Marie. The second was a Salsa performance by Sheryl Santi Luks and Igor Sharapanuk from NYDance. Igor is a champion World Latin Dancer. The guest judges were eminent artist Augustus Goertz, and Amy Lipton, Curator for the EcoArts Space Gallery in NYC. We are grateful to both judges, and to all the people who helped put the show together. I tried to take a few shots of the artist in front of the work, and since featured artist/photographer Rick Bannerot took several pictures of me, I had to include them. I looked cute in that polka dot dress.
It was a grand event.

This pen and ink rendering is by Marjorie Bowers of Lilburn Georgia. Her attention to detail is fascinating. Her rendering depicts a beautiful hot summer's day in a laconic environment with incredible perception.
In contrast to the colorful, palette photographed by Rick Bannerot from Stamford Connecticut. This image aptly called "Island Spice" brings the flavor and colorful beauty of the island paradise to the forefront, while letting us know where he is with the almost colorless out of focus background.

The introspective work of Carolyn Phillips from Suffolk Virginia.

Her work shows a contained person, deeply involved in her inner process. The tonal blocking reflects an unfinished environment, an area of herself yet to be rendered
The work of Brody Morales. see more of Brody's work at; www.brodymorales.com.
Read about his incredible journey back to life.

I have been remiss. With all the travel, and preparation, I haven't been attending to the blog. Thank you for all the emails, I am enjoying the good wishes and the communication from everyone. Since we did not obtain the lease for 102 Main Street, we have an alternative space for the show. Nyack Fitness Center has become our sponsor and has allowed us the use of their downstairs space for the event. This gives us more wall space, than we had planned for in the old bank building. Nyack Fitness is a newly renovated building, with an outdoor patio, and over 1500 sq feet of indoor space. The interior is perfect for art work, with natural light coming in through large picture windows in the front and great overhead lighting. There is still a little bit of work to do, so it is somewhat of an unfinished space but the walls and floor are finished and they look great!

Currently the work of Brody Morales is on display at Nyack Fitness. Brody's work will be up for the Nyack Arts Walk which is June 18th through June 20th. This event is being sponsored by the "Friends of Nyack". for more information on the artists and events for arts walk, please visit www.Nyackmerchants.org.

alternate way to send images

As a new organization it takes time to work out the kinks. Our website is up and running. However, since we are a bare bones operation it may not be completely user friendly at this juncture. I have received emails concerning mailing cd's, all with some pretty good suggestions. If you would like to send your images to an email address (in 72dpi) that would be acceptable. In fact, it would be very easy. Please label each image as you would on the CD; include the check number, your name and address so I can coordinate your mailed check with the emailed images. Images can be sent to hautepaint@att.net . Attention, Dyannen.
I'll try to upload a few of the inspiring images in the next few days.

Environments: Call for Artists

Our premier show is entitled, "Environments".
We are all products of our environment. From the time we are very young, we are influenced by the cultural, educational, social, ethnic and religious factors that form our identities as members of the global communities in which we live. This pre-conditioning shapes the way in which we respond to our environments. It reflects our relationship with time and the world around us. There is a strong emotional intimacy brought about through the creation of personal and direct work relating to our environments. Landscapes, architectural, personal environments, gender identity environments, inner landscapes. deconstructive environments, natural environments. In Environments we bring the art of observation into play and generate the translation.
